Starting at 6:00pm EST six bands will "Rock Out forRadical Radio" at The Local 269, 269 East Houston Street, the bar that oncewas the lesbian bar The Meow Mix, made famous in the Kevin Smith movieChasing Amy. Clarence Spady of Scranton, who was just elected to the BluesHall of Fame will open the show. Mr. Spady plays New York often and hasplayed for WFTE before in his hometown.The other five acts...The Steve Marshall Band, The Hippy Nuts, CrierBrothers, Yard Sale, and Empire Vista Social Club.. are New York basedbands who will join in this common cause. James Barry of Penetralia MentisPublishing is producing this event. Barry is a New York native who earnedhis bachelor's degree at the University of Scranton. Since returning home,Barry has stayed in touch with his Scranton friends, many of whom now livein New York and plan to attend Rock Out for Radical Radio to support theirhometown station. "WFTE is an independent radio station that provides arange of incredible original programs that bring important issues to theforefront," says Barry. "Right now, the most critical issue to me isfracking, and WFTE is the only radio station that has an entire showdevoted to this topic.
